Powder coat is an
alternative to using conventional wet paints for automotive and other metal
parts. it basically involves a process in which a layer of specially treated
solid pigment in the form of dry powder is applied to the surface to be powder
coated and is then heated by undergoing a chemical reaction as and when its
temperature rises. As a result of this chemical reaction, the powder melts and
then hardens into a solid single surface matching the contours of the item to
which it is applied. There are numerous advantages of powder coating over other
conventional paints. Apart from being cheaper and eco-friendly, powder coating
also creates a much more durable surface, which is far likely to scratch and
chip.
Applications
of powder coating
There are a number of applications of powder coating, however,
before an item is prepared for being coated, it is essential to clean the
surface and make it free from grease, dirt or oil from the hands. Once powder
coating is performed on the required surface, it should be brushed in
order to keep it free from grit or dried remaining moisture. The item is then
connected to a small electrode imparting mild, positive electrical charge.
Spraying of paint on the surface is usually done with a spray gun, which is
also called a Corona gun. This gun is usually described as air powdered device
with a hopper that contains the powdered pigment in the form of thermoset
polymer. A mild negative electric charge is imparted from the powder gun when
the powder is fired out from the nozzle. This simply states that the powder and
the item that is to be powder coated hold opposite charge. These opposite charges
attract each other and hence the powder naturally clings to the surface
immediately upon contact.
Industrial powder
coating
There are various equipment that are used for industrial powder coating.
Some of them are aerospace oven, industrial walk-in paint drying batch oven,
continuous conveyer oven and industrial powder coating oven. This coating
equipment can be helpful in powder coating industrial surfaces in a cheaper and
healthier way. There is no special preparation needed in the process since the
paint is not required to be mixed with a solvent or any other substance that
helps in saving unnecessary time and effort. Additionally the waste product
that is created after powder coating is comparatively quite less.
A highly efficient method of painting an object is spray paint to ensure that the end product is excellent and that your topic is entirely coated. This may be a very messy and challenging job, mainly when dealing with minor items, since you don't want to waste anything or create a mess in the surrounding area. If you know how to construct a paint booth, it is feasible to confine the job to a small footprint. This will limit the procedure's scope to the things you sprayed on.
